Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, a shopper, or a homebody there is much to enjoy when you book a room at this lovely inn!

There is so much to explore during your stay at The Inn at OxBow Acres in Milan, NH! Our log cabin bed and breakfast is nestled in the scenic Androscoggin Valley. Winter sports are a given. We are surrounded by incredible ski resorts that offer not only winter activities but amazing experiences in the summer and fall as well. The Androscoggin River is uncrowded with people but full of fish and wildlife – perfect to explore on a kayak or canoe. Cross country ski trails are great for equi-trekking and lead you through canopied forests and along gorgeous meadows. Easy or challenging mountain hikes are just a short drive away. Or if you just want to hang out at the inn and experience farm life, we offer that too! Rainy or snowy days can be spent by the fireplace playing puzzles or games and connecting with your favorite people. We hope you’ll take a break from your busy schedule and explore our favorite parts of the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Wildcat, Attitash, Cranmore, and Cannon Mountains are not only fantastic places to ski and snowboard, but have ZipTours, Tramways, Gondolas, and Giant Swings to give you heightened views of our beautiful White Mountains! Soaring over the trees and surveying the Presidential Range will give you a lifetime of memories and lots of photo opportunities!

Mount Washington Auto Road

South of the inn on scenic Route 16, the Mt. Washington Auto Road’s unique location in Pinkham Notch provides breathtaking views into the Great Gulf Wilderness and the Presidential Mountain Range. Views on a clear day extend as far as 130 miles and sometimes to the Atlantic Ocean!  Drive yourself or take a guided tour to the spectacular summit. Bring a jacket because this mountain is known for extreme and unpredictable conditions.

Washington Auto Road in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire, Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center offers a variety of winter activities such as tubing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiiing, and fatbiking. Jericho Mountain State Park, home of the annual Jericho ATV Festival, is just ten miles south. The Ride the Wilds Corridor trail runs through the Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin then proceeds north.

Ride the Wilds offers three seasons of ATV riding. Both novice and experienced riders love the diverse terrain of the trail system! You’ll traverse unspoiled mountains and meadows, graveled roads, and wooded trails. See how many miles you can cover in a day, and then relax at the inn before heading out again!

Winter Fun

Since 1872, the Nansen Ski Club has been one of the first and oldest continuously operated ski clubs in America. Minutes away from the inn, the trails are groomed by the club and wind through Milan Hill State Park (427 Milan Hill Road, Milan, NH). Various terrains and trail levels offer a frozen wonderland of beauty. Experience the crystalline brilliance of sunlit snow. There’s nothing like it!

Fish the Androscoggin River

Bring your fishing pole because the Androscoggin River will hook you in! Liberally stocked with rainbow, brown, and brook trout, this undisturbed waterway will bring you a catch. Stretching from Errol to Berlin the “Andro” is characterized by fast-moving rapids, long riffles, and slow water. Fish directly across Rte. 16 on our OxBow River property, or just down the road at the BoFinger Wildlife Management Area. You might reel in landlocked salmon or smallmouth bass.

Take your sled from our door to the corridor! Located just off Corridor 19, the Inn at OxBow Acres allows you to hop on the trail straight from the parking lot. This corridor runs up the eastern side of NH all the way to Canada.  If you want to explore the Great North Woods and cover hundreds of miles, there are several shops along Rte. 16 where you can rent a machine. Owners, bring your sleds and ride off after a hot breakfast! Groomed trails, early snow, and favorable conditions combine to make White Mountain winters anticipated and fun!

Milan Hill State Park

Since 1939, visitors have enjoyed Milan Hill State Park for its amazing views. Stately mountain ranges in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and southern Canada can be observed from the fire tower. The skies put on an amazing display at both sunrise and sunset providing the perfect backdrop for romantic pictures. Milan Hill is a must-see location while you’re here!

LL Cote is one of our favorite stores. Drive north to Errol on Rte. 16, and you’ll end up in the parking lot! Outdoor apparel, fishing and hunting equipment, country décor, and more are found at “The Mall”. Our amazing dining room table and comfortable chairs came from the store. If your partner would rather be on the trails, and you would rather be with the sales, then LL Cote is for you! It’s just a fun place to explore!

Escape city life and enjoy country living! Experience farm life at OxBow Acres. The innkeepers welcome questions about the animals antics and the “inns and outs” of country living. Interested in learning about planting, harvesting, or preserving? We don’t have all the answers, but we love to share what we’ve discovered in our continual pursuit of self-sustainability. Warning – this may involve rolling up your sleeves and digging in the dirt!  As Henry David Thoreau said, “Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.”
